President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and infrastructure-driven development, describing young people as Ghana’s most valuable resource and the backbone of national progress.
In his New Year Address to the Nation on January 1, 2026, the President noted that Ghana is beginning to see notable improvements across key sectors of the economy, translating into increased job opportunities for the youth.
He explained that construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and the services sector are recording significant growth, opening up avenues for decent and sustainable employment for young people nationwide.
President Mahama emphasized that infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of the government’s economic recovery and long-term growth agenda.
He revealed that rehabilitation works have begun on over 2,000 kilometres of roads across the country to enhance connectivity, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and stimulate economic activity.
The President also announced the restoration of a stable electricity supply, describing it as vital for supporting industries, businesses, and household productivity. Additionally, he said his government is extending rural electrification to more than 1,000 additional communities, aimed at bridging the development gap between urban and rural areas.
According to President Mahama, these initiatives form part of a comprehensive strategy to expand opportunities, boost productivity, and improve living standards, especially for the youth, as Ghana continues on its path of recovery and development.
