President John Dramani Mahama is set to submit his final list of ministerial nominees to the Speaker of Parliament today, Monday January 20, 2025.

This move fulfills his pledge to announce his full cabinet within 14 days of taking office.

The President has emphasized his commitment to running a lean government, limiting his team to no more than 60 ministers.

The final list is expected to include appointees for crucial portfolios such as Defence, Interior, Environment, Health, and Labour. Additionally, the names of three Regional Ministers will also be unveiled.

In a related development, the Presidential Communications Team has dismissed reports of a supposed third batch of ministerial nominees.

The team described these claims, which mentioned prominent National Democratic Congress (NDC) members, as “false and misleading”.

Unverified reports suggested the nomination of Rashid Pelpuo as Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mubarak as Minister of Transport, and Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, as Minister-Designate for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation.

However, the Office of the President has dismissed these claims, stating that no such nominations have been made.

In a statement, it urged the public to ignore the false information and reaffirmed that all official announcements will be communicated through authorized channels only.

This submission marks the final step in President Mahama’s efforts to assemble his ministerial team, paving the way for the implementation of his governance agenda with a streamlined and effective administration.
