Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has addressed concerns raised in Parliament regarding alleged discrepancies in the 2025 budget allocations, insisting that the figures presented were accurate and properly reflected in parliamentary proceedings.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Mr. Ayariga clarified that the National Security Council’s estimates were intentionally laid separately from those of the Ministry of the Interior. He explained that this decision was duly captured in the votes and official records of the House, contrary to claims suggesting otherwise.
On issues relating to the Ministry of Works and Housing, the Majority Leader noted that references made during the budget presentation were meant to report on past activities and did not amount to misallocation of funds. According to him, the figures associated with the ministry were correctly assigned and in line with established budgetary procedures.
Mr. Ayariga described the controversy as a misunderstanding and challenged those raising concerns to present clear and specific evidence of any errors in the budget appropriations.
He urged the House to take note of the explanations provided and called for Parliament to move forward by addressing any outstanding concerns constructively, in the interest of orderly proceedings and effective governance.
