A leading business leader and founder of The Chair Center Group, Ibukun Awosika is leading the call for women to show boldness and ambition in their career journey.

She highlighted the point in a keynote address at the just ended 5th Anniversary of the Executive Women Network’s Annual Conference in Ghana’s capital Accra.

Ibukun said it was time for corporate women on the continent to exhibit relentlessness as they seek to break through societal and self-imposed barriers that stifle their leadership and professional potential.

The Annual Conference, one of the most anticipated events in corporate Ghana, attracted hundreds of women leaders in the country, including civil society groups and government stakeholders, to advocate for advanced practical solutions to leadership, business, economic and national issues.

Under the theme: Impacting Women Leaders: Inspiring Lessons, the conference empowered the participants to become change agents in their workplaces, communities and at the national level.

Sharing her thoughts and experiences with participants, the multiple award-winning business leaders said, “Today’s women leaders must be active drivers of change in their organization and economy. They, through collaboration with all stakeholders, must seek to bring the best value to their organizations and communities, and through that, to make the world a better place for all.”

She added that “As we seek to reach the highest levels in our professional careers, we should never apologise for being ambitious. Encouraging more women into leadership positions remains critical in our era, given the fast-approaching challenges of the future. Women have more to offer their organizations, communities and countries when they strive to the top of the ladder. This also creates opportunities for more women to be included”.

Ibukun Awosika is a seasoned global speaker who serves on several corporate and not-for-profit boards. She has high interests in social issues and women empowerment, leading her to co-found Women in Business, Management, and Public Service (WIMBIZ) in Nigeria.

This year’s EWN Conference was a hybrid event, which brought together a host of women leaders and executives across Africa. It also corralled together some of the continent’s most seasoned corporate achievers, including celebrated finance professional Jude Bucknor and playwright, Uncle Ebo Whyte.
