Happy On Wheels: Massive turn-out at Bukom Park as Happy On Wheels begins constituency tour ahead of 2024 polls

Happy 98.9 FM, Ghana’s leading socio-political radio station, took its monthly community engagement initiative, “Happy on Wheels” to the vibrant Odododiodio Constituency.

The event which took place at the popular Bukom Park on Thursday, February 29 2024 witnessed a gathering of community members, Assembly members from various electoral areas,
National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary Candidate Nii Kotey , New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Odododiodio Constituency, Abdul Manaf Nii Adjei Sowah, esteemed guests, including renowned boxer cum celebrity, Braimah Kamoko, affectionately known as Bukom Banku.

The atmosphere at was vibrant and energetic as community members engaged in discussions, shared experiences and voiced their concerns and challenges some of which were unemployment, filth, and education among others.

The show provided a platform for constructive dialogue and fostering a greater understanding of the challenges faced by the youth.

Assembly Member for Kinka Electoral Area, Carlos Mankata touched on issues of Education. He hinted that he has been able to renovate the only Library in the community which is the Bishop Library where children in the community go for further research on assignments and read during their leisure time.

Meanwhile, Assembly Member for Mudor Electoral Area, Francis Asare stressed the issue of water scarcity and sanitation as some of the problems facing the community.

New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Odododiodio Constituency, Abdul Manaf Nii Adjei Sowah said most youths in the constituency are talented therefore with little support, they can strive for success.

National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary Candidate Nii Kotey stated that it is his dream to see Odododiodio become a socio-economically functional Constituency. According to him, fishing is one of the common occupations, hence when he becomes a member of Parliament for the constituency he will make sure fisher folks in Bukom get their right in the new fishing harbour being renovated in the community.

Renowned boxer and celebrity, Braimah Kamoko, affectionately called Bukom Banku, known for his inspiring journey and commitment to uplifting the youth, graced the event with his presence and delivered an empowering speech. His words resonated with the audience, offering motivation to young individuals who face numerous obstacles in their pursuit of success.

He revealed that most of the challenges they face in the community are indiscipline on the side of the youth and sanitation. He used the opportunity to call on opinion leaders in the community to come to their aid and address the issues the youth encounter.

Happy 98.9, as the driving force behind this event, takes immense pride in its commitment to uplifting the community. The success of the “Happy on Wheels” event in Bukom reinforces the station’s dedication to providing a platform for open discussions on the challenges communities face daily.

The Programs Manager at Happy 98.9 FM, Kwabena Ampong said, ” We are extremely pleased with the response and active participation from the Bukom community and we believe that by coming together and addressing issues collectively, we can create positive change and build a brighter future for the youth in Bukom.”
