Mfantsipim Senior High School emerged winners of the National Science and Maths Quiz after a head-to-head competition against Saint Augustine’s College and Keta Senior High Technical School on October 30, 2024.

The highly anticipated competition, initially featuring 157 schools, narrowed down to these three finalists for the National Championship held in Cape Coast, Central Region, at the NEC examination hall of the University of Cape Coast.

In a surprising twist, Mfantsipim School eliminated the reigning champions, Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC), at the semifinal stage with a score of 56 points, narrowly surpassing PRESEC’s 53 points.

Following five rounds of intense intellectual competition, Mfantsipim secured victory with a close score of 47 points, narrowly beating Saint Augustine’s College, who scored 46 points, while Keta Senior High Technical School followed with 29 points.

As Ghana’s oldest senior high school, Mfantsipim has now claimed the NSMQ title three times, with previous wins in 1999 and 2014. Their lead contestant, Isaac Mensah, along with his teammates, demonstrated remarkable resilience and quick-thinking, ultimately leading their team to victory.

The National Science & Maths Quiz is produced by Primetime Limited and is proudly sponsored by the Ghana Education Service, in partnership with GOIL PLC, and supported by YFM, Pepsodent, Jupay Money Transfer, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, Beta Malt, ALX, KIVO, Bel Beverages, Flora Tissues, Coronation Insurance, Accra College of Medicine, University of Mines & Technology (UMaT), Academic City University College, PMMC Jewellery, GTP, CHASS, and the Girlmark Foundation.
