Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital have been called in for questioning by the ministry on why the new fee was introduced without proper steps taken.

Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Isaac Offei Baah submitted to news sources that the Ministry of Health and Parliament left in oblivion by the hospital regarding the surge in the cost of dialysis was ‘illegal’.

According to him, the Chief Executive Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital has admitted that the charges have not been endorsed by the ministry and have ordered them to drop the charges with immediate effect.

The CEO of Korle-Bu, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, has revealed that only 6 patients were charged the new fee.
