The Ministry of Interior has announced that Monday, August 5, will be observed as a public holiday in commemoration of Founders Day. In a statement issued on July 31 and signed by Minister Henry Quartey, the Ministry declared the day a statutory public holiday, urging all citizens to observe it nationwide.

This means that all public institutions, schools, and businesses will be closed on this day, allowing the public to mark the significant occasion.

Founders’ Day is a poignant occasion that serves as both a reflective moment and a powerful reminder of the core values and principles that shaped Ghana’s foundation. This significant holiday honors the selfless sacrifices of the nation’s pioneers, inspiring citizens to strive for a harmonious and thriving Ghana.

“Sunday, August 4th, 2024, marks Founders’ Day, which is a Statutory Public Holiday. However, in view of the fact that 4th August falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), declared Monday, 5th August, 2024, as an additional public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the statement read
