The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Bright Asamoah Brefo has expressed surprise that the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin was not included in the recent suspension of four lawmakers.

According to him, discipline is essential in every human endeavor, and the Speaker’s decision to take action was necessary to maintain order.

He criticized the behavior of some members, describing their actions as unbecoming of honorable legislators. He argued that those who have been suspended deserved the sanctions imposed on them. However, he questioned why Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who he believes orchestrated the incident, was not among those facing disciplinary action.

He pointed out that the majority caucus holds the numbers to approve nominees, dismissing concerns raised by the minority about blocking the process. He also noted that a parliamentary probe, along with a criminal investigation, has been initiated to uncover the full details of the issue.

He maintained that fairness should be applied in the disciplinary process, insisting that Afenyo-Markin should not be exempt from accountability.
