Father of the late Dancehall/Afrobeats musician Ebony Reigns, Mr Opoku Kwarteng has revealed that as if the stress that came with his daughter’s music career was not enough, his privacy was also invaded.
Born Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, Ebony Reigns was a vibrant danchall artiste whose life was truncated in a gory accident on the Kumasi-Sunyani stretch, whiles returning from a visit to her mother with three others.
Father of the late artiste in an emotional interview with DJ Advicer on Happy FM‘s Ayekoo After Drive show, intimated that he her daughter’s music career brought a burden on his private life but he’s willing to offer his backing to any of his other children should they choose to follow the same path.
“My privacy was invaded after she chose this kind of life, Ebony’s life was very stressful , I used to buy plantain outside but now I can’t do it. Being Ebony’s father, I can’t do what I want to do,” Nana Kwarteng stated on Happy FM.
“Nothing is easy on this earth but if any of my children still want to do what Nana ‘Ohemaa’ did, I will still support it as a responsible father.”
She was discovered by Bullet of Ruff and Smooth and signed to his Ruff Town Records.
In December, 2015, she came out with her first single “Dancefloor” before her major hit single “Kupe” was released in March, 2016.
Ebony won three awards in the just ended Ghana Music Awards including the most coveted ‘Artiste of the Year Award’.
