In a joint operation, the Gomoa East NADMO Office and the Gomoa East District Assembly Taskforce have demolished unauthorized cow sheds and structures built along road lanes in Millennium City, Yesu-Krom.

District Director of NADMO Hassan Hamidu explained to the media that the demolition was carried out to clear blocked pathways and prevent flooding ahead of the rainy season. He noted that the Landlords Association in the area had consistently raised concern, as residents suffer severe flooding whenever it rains.

“We issued a notice to the owner of the cow structures to remove them, but he refused and told us to do whatever we wanted. That’s why the Assembly took action,” Mr. Hamidu said.

Mr. Hamidu also used the opportunity to issue a stern warning to individuals who have built on waterways, urging them to demolish their structures before the Assembly steps in.

Some residents of Millennium City expressed appreciation for the demolition exercise. They said cow waste posed serious health risks and worsened the flooding situation.

“We face a lot of challenges when it rains. The cow faeces cause diseases, and the blocked roads make things worse,” one resident shared.
