Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak, has expressed his disappointment in the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) as he states that the organization has acted poorly in managing the Bagre Dam disaster.

Speaking to Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he disclosed that the organization has not been able to provide something as small as a sachet of water, not to talk about beds or other materials for the victims in his region.

“Can you imagine that for about three weeks now, NADMO has not even sent sachet water to my people? I heard it is the same in other regions that were affected. So you ask yourself what has NADMO done with the money that was approved by parliament given to them?

NADMO is an institution of the state and parliament votes resources for NADMO. And in a disaster like this, even sachet water, say to replace mattresses and other kinds of stuff has not been provided. Can you imagine that?”, he queried.

He lamented that this desertion by NADMO is very saddening as victims have to survive multiple hardships ranging from waterborne diseases, snake and crocodile bites, and lack of disaster relief items.

Meanwhile, a recent news report noted that on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, NADMO distributed relief items to the affected flood victims in the North East Region together with the North East regional minister, Solomon Boar.

Some persons were reported dead and many displaced in communities in the North East and Upper East regions after the spillage from the Bagre dam in Burkina Faso and the torrential rainfall in the region.
