Nana Akua Dokyiwaa Karikari, an upper primary pupil of the Mary Mother of Good Counsel School and member of the Captain Planet Foundation’s Planeteer Alliance is set to host the first-ever Wind Summit to be held in Ghana.
The Captain Planet Foundation (CPF) is a nonprofit organization born from the iconic 1990s cartoon, dedicated to empowering young people globally through environmental education, leadership training, and practical campaigns such as the Wind Summit.
The impact of this foundation has not only transcended its original airing period but has also influenced generations by raising young individuals like Ms. Karikari, who are dedicated to saving the planet through the creation of sustainable environmental habits.
Speaking to YFM, the young planeteer expressed confidence in her capacity to handle the role drawing on the knowledge she gained a plastic policy training organised by the Captain Planet Foundation in 2024 and an ongoing 6 months intensive boot camp in plastic policy.
Ms. Karikari indicated that she is highly motivated by a deep desire to educate others especially her peers on the importance of protecting the environment and the positive impact these good practices have on planet Earth.
“I am very excited to host Ghana’s first Wind Summit. I want to help my colleagues and other children understand why throwing plastic everywhere is harmful and teach them how to separate it properly. If we all do our part, we can prevent plastic from polluting our streets, drains, and oceans. At the Summit, we will also learn how to turn plastics into useful items like bags and pencil holders instead of just throwing them away,” she said.
The Wind Summit, organized by the Captain Planet Foundation, will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Mary Mother of Good Counsel School – Airport West, Accra, and will host a maximum of 50 participants. Tap the link provided below to secure a spot.
