Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced the full operationalization of the National Research Fund.

According to him, the National Research Fund would begin operation this year and be adequately funded.

“The National Research Find would be personalized this year fully and adequately funded”.

Speaking at the National Education Forum in the Volta Region, the Minister assured lecturers and university management that, government will not interfer in their governance.

“It is not the intention of president Mahama or the NDC to interfere with your university governance. So have absolute faith that there would be unfeted academic freedom and its respect”.

He added that, “We will not interfere with your governance, what the law requires us to do we will consult with GTEC except that we will help you build strong institutions”.

Haruna Iddrisu further announced that, President Mahama would within fourteen (14) days from now announce the university’s governing council.

“Within the next 2 weeks President Mahama would appoint the governing councils of the university”.
