The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged the media to officially announce activities of Inter-Party Dialogue Committees (IPDC) across the country to mitigate violence ahead of Ghana’s 2024 general election.

The gathering which was held at the Head Office of the National Commission for Civic Education, Accra saw a number of policy makers and public servants agree on IPDC initiatives to maintain peaceful co-existence in Ghana.

All things highlighted during the gathering were aligned with the theme ‘Together We can Build Ghana: So Get Involved.’ which implied that every Ghanaian has a role to play in ensuring that Ghana is built through collaborative efforts of democracy and peaceful coexistence.

Chairperson of the NCCE, Kathleen Addy noted that the IPDC actively exists as a unifying body geared towards promoting peace and tolerance during election processes. As a body, the IPDC have been active in effectively preventing disputes and conflicts amongst political parties and their supporters, by empowering citizens through education and providing knowledge on electoral processes.

She noted that activities of the IPDC have already commenced in various regions of the country. Aside monthly meetings held by the IPDC, she noted that division leaders of the respective political parties will be engaged to bolster tolerance and peaceful co-existence among them and their supporters.

She appealed to the media to join the NCCE in ensuring a transparent and peaceful election, by rightfully using their platforms to educate and empower Ghanaians for nation building.
