The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is holding its parliamentary primaries today, August 4, 2025, in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region to select a candidate for the upcoming by-election.
This primary comes in the wake of the announcement by the Electoral Commission of Ghana that a by-election will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, to elect a new Member of Parliament for Akwatia following the unfortunate passing of the sitting MP, Ernest Kumi.
Three aspirants have been duly nominated to contest in today’s NDC primaries. They are:
1.Bernard Bediako Baidoo
2.Erasmus Koney Ali
3.Henry Yiadom Boakye
According to the official notice of poll released by the party, the election will be held across polling centres in the Akwatia Constituency from 7:00am to 4:00pm
The winner of today’s internal contest will represent the NDC in the September 2 by-election, which is expected to draw national attention as parties battle to retain or capture the seat in a politically significant constituency.
