The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Stephen Amoah, has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to apologize to Ghanaians for their past failures in addressing the galamsey menace.

Speaking in Parliament, Mr. Amoah emphasized that the fight against galamsey is a national issue that requires a collective effort, free from politics and propaganda.

He condemned the actions of politicians who use galamsey as a tool for political gain, urging politicians to put aside their differences and work towards eradicating the menace.

He emphasized that galamsey is endangering the future of Ghana’s next generation, citing the economic and environmental impacts of the menace.

The MP urged chiefs, security agencies, and all stakeholders to join forces to combat galamsey, highlighting the role of some chiefs in selling land to illegal miners.

He commended President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts to tackle galamsey but noted that setting up task forces alone is not enough.

Mr. Amoah urged Parliament to support the government’s efforts to combat galamsey, calling for a bipartisan approach to tackle the issue.

He emphasized that the fight against galamsey is a matter of national importance, requiring a united effort to protect Ghana’s environment and citizens.
