Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communication for the Bawumia Campaign Team, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of spreading false claims about alleged ballot papers discovered in the Ashanti Region.
Shortly before the close of polls on December 7, the NDC held a press conference, alleging that its Ashanti Region National Organiser, Joseph Yamin, had found approximately 500,000 ballot papers in an isolated room in the region, purportedly linked to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Responding to the allegations during a press briefing held hours later, Dennis Miracles Aboagye described the claims as “a complete lie.” He further stated that their investigations revealed that “those ballot papers are not even at the location they claim.”
“As usual the NDC is doing what it knows best, behaving irresponsibly as it can as a party. It is extremely baffling to have the NDC behave the way they are doing. They continue to peddle some falsehood. As at 4:30 pm thereabout, they held a press conference and said the NDC Organiser in the Ashanti Region has discovered 500,000 ballot papers which they claim are ballot papers they have discovered, being hidden by the NPP”.
“That’s a complete lie. All we saw in that video was Joseph Yamin holding his phone and having a camera placed on him with no resistance, no owner of the House and no accustomed person but he was standing and having a conversation and cheerfully telling somebody I had discovered ballot papers,” he said.
The party suggested that the evidence presented by Joseph Yamin raises suspicions that the NDC may have orchestrated the incident.
The NPP has called on the Police to thoroughly investigate Joseph Yamin’s claims.
