The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted it is prepared for a potential rerun of the Suhum parliamentary election, following a petition filed by Independent Parliamentary Candidate Oboafo Kwadjo Asante challenging the 2024 election results.
NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah expressed confidence in reclaiming the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing the narrow margin between the parlaimentary candidates of the two parties.
The NPP’s Frank Asiedu Bekoe was declared the winner with 16,855 votes, while the NDC’s candidate garnered 15,259 votes.
The court case, ongoing at the Koforidua High Court ‘A’, involves Asante, Bekoe, and the Electoral Commission.
If the court nullifies the results, the NDC is poised to participate in the rerun, drawing inspiration from their recent Akwatia By-Election success.
