The National Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned what it describes as an unprovoked attack on its members by thugs allegedly affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The incident occurred on September 7, 2024, and involved a raid on the home of the former NDC Constituency Chairperson in an undisclosed area, where the Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer, Masawudu Suleman, was also assaulted.

In a press statement signed on Monday September 9, 2024, NDC National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo, the party accused the NPP of weaponizing violence out of fear of losing the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.

He emphasized that these attacks are part of a broader strategy by the ruling party to intimidate opposition members.

The NDC Youth Wing has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Ahafo Regional Police to arrest the culprits responsible for the attack. They warned that failure to do so would lead to a strong retaliation.

The statement called on NDC youth across the country to remain vigilant and ready to defend themselves against any aggression from the ruling party or its affiliates.

PRESS STATEMENT

On September 7, 2024, some NDC youth were unjustifiably attacked by NPP thugs.

The home of our former Constituency Chairperson in the affected area was ransacked, and the Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer, Masawudu Suleman, was assaulted in the same residence.

  • The NPP, knowing their defeat is imminent on December 7, 2024, has resorted to weaponizing violence across the country.
  • The NDC Youth Wing condemns these attacks as direct assaults on our party. We are officially in defense mode and will not tolerate any further provocation.
  • The Ahafo Regional Police have 48 hours to arrest the culprits, or we will retaliate with full force.
  • If the agents of the NPP within the Police fail to arrest these lawless hooligans within the next 48 hours, the NDC Youth Wing will respond in a more brutal, decisive, and forceful manner in seven days. They should take note.
  • We will not be intimidated by the NPP or misguided NPP activists in the Police Service. Any further aggression will be met with swift and decisive action.
  • All NDC youth are hereby directed to remain on high alert and fully prepared to defend themselves at all times

George Opare Addo,
National Youth Organizer,
National Democratic Congress.
