Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs, has described Ghana’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as a ‘new political sensation’.

According to the Social Commentator, the setting of the Town Hall meetings ahead of the 2020 elections spearheaded Bawumia as exceptional.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben Allotey Jacobs said “Bawumia is Ghana’s political technologist, the new political sensation in our Ghanaian political space and his humility will raise him to the top leadership of governance. I hope the others learn from Dr Bawumia rather than politicking the issues that come out during his Town Hall Meeting.”

Allotey Jacobs disclosed that some state institutions that were migrated to digital platforms are recording improvements in revenue collection.

To him, the government’s policy of digitizing the economy, which is spearheaded by Dr Bawumia would enhance the competitiveness of the Ghanaian economy.

The Ports, Lands Commission, Ministry of Tourism and the Passport Office are a few state agencies that have migrated to digital platforms to enhance efficiency.

He is tasking the government to remove unnecessary procedures that allow stealing in public service.
According to him, digitization would allow the tax net to be expanded thereby enhancing revenue collection by government, leading to less borrowing and debt servicing.
