Chief Executive officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, has announced plans to support some major health facilities in the country with dialysis machines as part of the free dialysis program which is set to begin from December 1, 2024.

Speaking at a consultative forum organised by the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on Monday November 25, 2024, Dr. Dacosta Aboagye mentioned that, the NHIA secured funding from the World Bank for the project through the Public Procurement regulations and would soon be ready for delivery.

“We have applied through the Public Procurement Authority, and soon we will hear from them. We have submitted to them to procure more dialysis machines to retool the facilities in such a way that they will be able to deliver on the mandate we have given them.”

Dr. Aboagye mentioned that, the procurement of these machines are part of government’s agenda 111 initiatives.

“Under the Agenda 111 initiative, dialysis centers will be established to ensure people do not have to travel far for treatment”.
