The campaign team of former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has rejected allegations made against him by Kennedy Agyapong, describing the claims as baseless, uninformed, and unwarranted.

In a statement signed by Nana Akomeah, Chairman of Campaign Communications, the Bawumia Campaign said it had taken note of a recent video message circulating online in which Kennedy Agyapong, a fellow aspirant in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, accused Dr. Bawumia of making remarks about the health status of the late Mr. Albert Adu Boahen and his alleged decision not to contest the 1996 NPP primaries.

The campaign team categorically denied the accusations, stressing that Dr. Bawumia has never made such statements.

It further challenged Mr. Agyapong to produce any video or audio evidence to substantiate his claims if he stands by them.

The statement also condemned comments in which Mr. Agyapong allegedly described Dr. Bawumia as a liar and unfit for leadership, warning that such remarks could mislead the public and heighten tensions within the party.

“Accuracy matters in political discourse, and words matter,” the campaign emphasized, urging Mr. Agyapong to render an unqualified apology to Dr. Bawumia for what it described as false and damaging statements.

According to the campaign, Dr. Bawumia remains committed to issue-based politics and believes political leadership must be exercised with truthfulness, decorum, and restraint, without resorting to personal insults.

The statement called on party members and leaders to uphold respectful engagement as the NPP prepares for its internal presidential contest.
