Former President John Mahama has said that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is panicking by his decision to run for president once again on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2020 general elections.
According to Mahama, he is surprised at the behavior of the NPP over his decision to contest again as president of Ghana.
Speaking to teeming supporters of NDC delegates in Yendi, on Thursday, as part of his campaign tour of the Northern Region, Mahama said,
“Very often, one always hears members of the NPP questioning why the NDC would want to bring me back as their flagbearer as they would easily defeat me. If it is true that the NPP would easily defeat me in 2020 then they should be rejoicing rather than complaining.”
“Two teams are playing football and the other tells the opponent that if you put in a particular goalkeeper I will score you. That means the opponent is afraid of the goalkeeper,” he said.
He noted that the NPP is clearly afraid of his second coming, as they are aware that, he is the only candidate with the experience to win back power for the NDC in 2020.
Mahama however urged NDC delegates to massively endorse him on December 7, 20 18, when the NDC goes to the polls, to enable him wrestle power from the NPP in 2020.
