The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to deliver what it calls “the True State of the Nation” Address on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

This follows the State of the Nation Address (SONA) presented by President John Dramani Mahama on February 27, 2025, which the NPP claims selectively omitted critical national issues and misrepresented the realities of Ghana’s current state.

According to the NPP, President Mahama’s address failed to provide a full and accurate assessment of the nation’s trajectory since he assumed office on January 7, 2025.

“In just a few weeks under his administration, alarming developments have surfaced. Ghanaians are experiencing worsening electricity instability, threatening businesses and livelihoods”.

In a statement, the NPP said, “the noticeable decline in national security, particularly in the northern regions, has heightened concerns over public safety.”

The NPP also highlighted the resurgence of illegal mining (galamsey) and violence in Obuasi, posing severe environmental and security risks.

“The government’s mass cancellation of public sector recruitments and appointments has exacerbated unemployment, deepening economic uncertainty”.

These urgent national challenges, according to the NPP, were conspicuously absent from President Mahama’s address.

In light of this, the New Patriotic Party, through its leadership in Parliament, led by Alexander Afenyo Markin, will present the True State of the Nation Address to offer Ghanaians a factual and objective account of the nation’s condition.

The NPP pledged to remain committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible governance.
