The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Accra Circuit Court’s decision to remand the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.

On Tuesday, September 9, the Accra Circuit Court remanded Abronye into Police custody following his arrest on Monday, September 8, for alleged offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.

Speaking to the media after the court proceedings, Salam Mustapha argued that the Police had failed to provide any evidence against Abronye and accused them of acting mischievously.

“They’ve given the Police 48 hours and Chairman will appear here on Friday, hence he’s on remand. On September 12 we will be back here. The court itself has realized they are being mischievous because I listened to the charge and the arguments from both prosecution and defendant, and they don’t have any evidence for his arrest. Hence, they want him remanded whilst they go fishing for evidence,” he said.

Mr. Mustapha further described the development as an infringement on Abronye’s human rights, insisting that if the Police claimed to have a video as evidence, they should produce it in court.
