The New Partriotic Party Youth Wing is demanding an unqualified apology from NDC Flagbearer John Mahama over assault on Christian Service University (CSU) students.

According to them, the incident that happened at CSU campus is barbaric and uncivilized. They added that, for students to be attacked on their own campus by supposed bodyguards of John Mahama in Rambo style in his presence and members of convocation without any reprimand should be condemned.

In a press statement signed by the National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, the group said, the only crime of the students was that they they shouted “Mahama b3we”.

“The NPP youth Wing is absolutely disgusted by this recklessly irresponsible act of thuggery and hooliganism by John mahama’s security team and we are waiting to see if John Mahama has any respect for students of Ghana and the youth in general by his action and inaction. We also demand that John Mahama gives out these thugs for the law to deal with them, otherwise we will advise students to always go to NDC events also well prepared for eventualities or boycott John Mahama and his NDC entirely as they portend nothing but an eminent threat and danger to them”.

“The former President’s desperation for power is becoming alarming, he failed terribly and the youth still remember that, contrary to his belief that we have short memories.
Nevertheless, his wanton desire for power should not endanger young people especially students whose parents expect to be safe in school” , the statement said.

This comes on the back of an alleged assault on some students of Christian Service University (CSU) in Kumasi by persons believed to be Mr Mahama’s bodyguards.

The incident happened on the CSU campus on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at a public lecture organized to mark the school’s 50th anniversary, addressed by former President and 2024 flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama.
