The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has questioned the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision for a parliamentary recall, citing that they lack the necessary numbers to make decisions even if the Speaker grants their request. This comes after the NPP filed a petition on October 23, 2024, seeking to recall Parliament following its indefinite adjournment.

Ablakwa pointed out that with four parliamentary seats already declared vacant, including two from the NPP, and the possibility of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) boycotting parliament, the NPP would not have the required half of the total parliamentary membership to make decisions, as stipulated in Article 104 of the Constitution.

He emphasized that the NPP’s call for recall is futile, as they wouldn’t be able to implement any decisions due to their insufficient numbers. Ablakwa urged the NPP to reconsider their strategy, as their current approach would yield no tangible results.
