Former NSS Deputy Executive Director Gifty Oware-Mensah has returned to the country.

According to sources, she was not arrested at the Kotoka International Airport as initially planned by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) upon her return.

Her arrival comes amid reports that the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) had been seeking her arrest in connection with the scandal.

Her return also follows the recent detention of former Deputy Director of Operations at the NSA, Kwaku Ohene Gyan, popularly known as Osonoba, by the NIB.

The government has uncovered a major discrepancy in the National Service payroll, identifying 81,885 suspected ghost names.

This number reflects the gap between the actual active personnel and the payroll data submitted by the previous management of the National Service Authority (NSA).

The scandal has sparked demands for greater transparency and accountability in the management of the scheme, which enrolls thousands of young graduates each year.

Gifty Oware-Mensah’s exact involvement remains unclear, the government has vowed to get to the bottom of the matter.

Security agencies are expected to step up their investigations as they seek to uncover the full scope of the alleged fraudulent scheme.
