The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga Esq., has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the youth of Ghana through a range of flagship initiatives.

He made this known during a working visit by a delegation from YFM under the Global Media Alliance, led by Director of Broadcasting, Dr. Timothy Karikari.

The visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between YFM and NYA and explore collaborative opportunities for the upcoming Youth Month celebration in August.

Mr. Ayariga described the visit as timely, noting that it aligns with preparations by the Authority to usher in Youth Month.

He highlighted the month-long celebration as a strategic initiative to empower young people through various activities, including a national clean-up exercise, educational forums, and a street carnival featuring performances from renowned gospel and secular artists.

He stressed that both the government and NYA are committed to making this year’s Youth Month a remarkable and impactful event. To ensure its success, NYA is partnering with all YFM stations, Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi and other traditional and digital media brands to help promote and mobilize widespread youth participation.

On the subject of youth and substance abuse, Mr. Ayariga also spoke about the recent “Red Means Stop” campaign aimed at curbing drug use, especially the abuse of a substance known as “Red.”

He disclosed that the NYA is engaging the Ministry of Education to roll out a nationwide awareness campaign across Senior High Schools (SHSs) to educate students on the dangers of drug use and the importance of making healthy life choices.

He urged young people across the country to actively participate in this year’s Youth Month activities, emphasizing that their involvement is key to making the celebration memorable and impactful.
