In a significant development at the ongoing #OccupyBoG protest, Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison sent the Head of Security at the Bank to receive the petition presented by leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), including Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson, and the protest organizers.

The decision to delegate the reception of the petition to the Head of Security has sparked controversy, with protesters expressing their dissatisfaction, deeming it “disrespectful to Ghanaians.” They insist that the Governor himself should be the one to receive the document and engage in a dialogue with them.

Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament, emphasized their stance, stating, “We want to hear him and give him the justification why it is in his own interest and the interest of the people of Ghana for him to say ‘bye-bye’ to the central bank.”

Ato Forson reiterated that the Minority group will not submit their petition to any other official apart from the Governor of the Bank of Ghana. He conveyed their willingness to remain at the Central Bank headquarters for an extended duration if Dr. Ernest Addison does not make himself available to receive the petition personally.

This development adds an intriguing layer to the #OccupyBoG protest, as demonstrators insist on direct engagement with the Governor, emphasizing the significance of their demands and the need for dialogue.
