OccupyBoG: You’ll have to arrest all Ghanaians- Aseidu Nketia replies Police

The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), organizers of the #OccupyBoG has dared the Ghana Police Service to arrest every Ghanaian involved in the ongoing protest.

This is in response to the Ghana Police refusal to allow the #OccupyBoG protest termination at BoG Headquaters and challenged the Minority to seek legal redress

Aseidu Nketia however insisted that the protest goes as planned, defying caution of the Police Service.

“We are still going to move as planned and conclude the protest at the BoG headquarters, the arena of scams and daylight thievery. If the Police want to arrest us then they’ll have to arrest every Ghanaian to fill up all the prisons in the country,” he said.

“The police themselves wish to protest. Their living conditions are harsh and unbearable like what the rest of Ghanaians are experiencing and even more,” he added.

The Ghana Police Service ahead of today’s protest reaffirmed its stance that the #OccupyBoG protest, organized by the Minority caucus in Parliament, must conclude at the Independence Square and not at the Bank of Ghana Headquarters building in Accra.

The police emphasized that their decision was based on security concerns, categorizing the Bank of Ghana Headquarters as a restricted security zone. To this end, the police have urged organizers to seek legal resolution if they disagree with this arrangement, citing the filing of an injunction at the court to enforce their position.

Meanwhile, the #OccupyBoG protest has began as protestors have moved from the Obra Spot heading towards Ridge roundabout through to the Parliament of Ghana.
