John Dramani Mahama, Leader and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has begun a campaign tour of the Volta Region from Tuesday, August 13 to Friday, August 16, 2024.

This tour is part of his commitment to engage directly with Ghanaians and present his vision for rebuilding the nation, as part of the ‘Ghana We Want Together’ initiative ahead of the December 7th General Elections.

During his visit to the region, Mahama will cover all eighteen constituencies, conducting door-to-door interactions, market visits, lorry station chats, community mobilizations, and concluding with rallies.

Accompanying Mahama are prominent party members including Former Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Doe Adjaho, Prof. Joshua Alabi, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Julius Debrah, MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Volta Regional Chairman Mawutor Agbavitor etc.

Welcoming the Flagbearer of the party to the region and Constituency at a community engagement event at the Juapong Methodist School Park in North Tongu Constituency, MP for the area, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa praised Mahama for his integrity and respect for Ghanaians.

“Our incoming President we call him Togbe Anokwale Baator. He is the chief of truth. He speaks the truth at all times.
He is not deceptive, he does not disrespect the Ghanaian people. He does not have a low view, a low esteem of the Ghanaian people. He holds all Ghanaians in high esteem and that is why he does not peddle falsehood,” he stressed.

He emphasized that Mahama has been subjected to an unprecedented international corruption inquiry, led by his successor President Akufo-Addo, and has emerged with a clean record.

Mr. Ablakwa highlighted that Mahama’s reputation remains untarnished, contrasting it with the potential consequences if President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia were to face similar scrutiny.

He pointed to the National Cathedral project, which reportedly cost $58.1 million, as an example of potential misuse of funds.
