The Omanhene of Akyem Abuakwa, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals engaged in the destructive practices of marijuana smoking and illegal mining, which are ravaging forests, lands, and water bodies.

He lamented the alarming degradation of the Densu and Birim rivers, once pristine and colorless, now turned brownish and muddy due to these activities. The Okyehene urged authorities to take swift action against those responsible, emphasizing the need for the youth to show reverence to their elders, parents, and community members.

Additionally, he cautioned motorcyclists against reckless behavior, including modifying exhaust pipes to produce excessive noise and risking unwarranted accidents.

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin stressed the importance of upholding a culture of respect for the elderly and tradition, urging security agencies to intensify monitoring and enforcement efforts to protect the environment and deter destructive practices.
