Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansah-Asare has criticized the government’s decision to establish the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee.
He argued that Ghana already has numerous anti-corruption and crime-fighting institutions capable of undertaking such responsibilities and suggested that the president should have strengthened these existing bodies instead of creating a new committee.
Ansah-Asare accused the government of using ORAL to advance a political agenda, expressing skepticism about the operation’s potential to deliver significant results.
“They may mean well, but from my perspective, ORAL is just about settling political goals. We don’t need that sort of thing,” he said.
He urged President John Dramani Mahama to disband the ORAL committee, warning that its continued existence could lead to the embarrassment of the person who set it up.
