The Abeka branch of Papaye Fast Foods Limited has donated food items and an undisclosed amount of money to the National Chief Imam, His Eminence. Dr. Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
Presenting the items at the Imam’s office at Fadama, Accra on Monday, Mr. Samir Kalmoni said the gesture was in solidarization with the Chief Imam and the Muslim community in general as they undertake the spiritual exercise of fasting during this Holy Ramadan month.
The company also thanked Dr. Sharubutu for his continuous prayers for the company which has helped it to flourish for the past 25 years.
“We also recognize with thanks the massive support of the Muslim community in patronizing our products and services which has resulted in the expansion of our operations,” Mr. Kalmoni said.
In response, the national Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, used the platform to pray for the entire nation especially the Muslims, to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by way of giving to the needy and the less privileged in society. He wished the Muslim community a happy Eid Mubark
Receiving the items, Dr. Sheik Abubakar Marzuk, Deputy Spokesperson for the Chief Imam thanked the team from Papaye fast food limited for the kind gesture. He also used the opportunity to ask citizens of the country to help in their own way to improve and maintain the peace we are already enjoying during and after the Ramadan.
He said “the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad in the Ramadan Month and therefore both Muslims and non -Muslims must take advantage of it to increase their generosity and kindness to mankind especially the poor, needy and the less privileged as practiced by Prophet Muhammed.”
The items presented include bags of rice, sugar, gallons of cooking oil, trays of eggs and milk, boxes of tea bags, Milo amongst other items.
Mr Divine Asiedu, the Papaye Chief Executive officer (CEO) and some officers from the Imam’s office and the Papaye Company were present at the ceremony.
The fasting which started last Wednesday, May 16, is expected to end by June 15, 2018.
