Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has announced that Parliament has been served with the Supreme Court’s ruling granting a stay of execution on the Speaker’s declaration of four seats vacant.
He expressed gratitude that Parliament has now submitted to the legal process, noting that they are looking forward to a Parliament that respects the orders and directives of the Supreme Court.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin described the serving of the court’s ruling by the bailiff as good news, emphasizing that it brings clarity and resolves any controversy surrounding the matter.
According to him, the Supreme Court directed that Parliament be served with the ruling and respond within seven days. He highlighted that today’s acceptance of the order, reflects Parliament’s respect for the law.
He said this time, the Legal Director accepted and signed for the service without resistance a gesture he described as a testament to democracy in action.
He remarked that the NPP believes in brain work rather than brawl. He stressed that the party does not need to organize protests with placards outside Parliament, as it values respect for the rule of law.
He called for patience and urged all parties to allow the legal process to unfold to ensure peace and stability in the country.
