An Ashanti Regional based Patriotic Youth Alliance is demanding an unqualified apology from the publishers of Daily Guide over the publication of the alleged money laundering scandal by Asantehene Osei Tutu II in the United Kingdom.
The group sympathetic to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is calling on the Acting National Chairman of NPP Freddy Blay to call his boys at Daily Guide to order.
The convener of the group, Thomas Boakye demanded the apology on behalf of the Asante king on Happy FM’s afternoon socio-political show dubbed ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ hosted by Kwame Affrifa Mensah in Accra.
According to the group, the action of the paper; owned by the Acting Chairman of the party is fast derailing the efforts of the party in the Ashanti Region.
Below is a copy of the statement issued by the group:
OUR ACTING NATIONAL CHAIRMAN SHOULD CALL HIS NEWS PAPER TO ORDER
Patriotic Youth Alliance have been observing with keen interest of the derogatory headlines and stories by the acting National Chairman of our party’s newspaper and its repelling effect on our great party.
First, Ghanaians woke up to read a derogatory and a falsehood reportage on the Great king of Asante Kingdom, Otomfuo Osei Tutu II by Daily Guide in a money laundering scandal in UK. We are by this communiqué asking our acting National chairman to call his News portal to order and be careful of their wrongful reportage because of the consequences of tarnishing the image of our party. A defect against the great King of Asante will have consequences on our strong hold.
Again, on Friday the 13th October, 2017 daily guide owned by the Blays gave a damning headlines which confirms the propagandas been circulated by our main Opponent, the NDC, that our Government is family and and friends with the headlings “NANA APPOINTS SAMIRA’S FATHER As AMBASSADOR TO DUBAI” meanwhile when your wife was appointed as Ambassador to Germany your news portal never gave the headline “ACTING NATIONAL CHAIRMAN’S WIFE APPOINTED AS AMBASSADOR TO GERMANY”.
In conclusion, we are calling on our National Chairman Mr. Frddey Blay to call his news portal to order and àsk them to apologise to the Great King of Asante for the wrongful reportage and tarnishing his hard earned image as well as warn his news paper editor against such negative headline which would have future consequence on our party.
