Medeama SC Communications Director, Patrick Akoto, has confirmed to Happy Sports that his side will appeal the decision by the Player Status Committee on two of their former employees Samuel Boadu and Hamza Obeng.

Samuel Boadu and Hamza Obeng unilaterally terminated their contract abruptly before joining Hearts of Oak in the ongoing season.

Medeama reported the two to the Ghana Football Association Player Status Committee for the unilateral termination of their contract.

The Mauve and Yellow were looking for substantial damages of around GHC 320,000 for that unilateral decision by the coach including compensation.

However, the Status Committee rejected the residual value claim by Medeama, insisting the coach must pay the club a meager GH₵ 30,000 for breach of contract.

Patrick Akoto in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware indicated that Medeama is not happy about the ruling and they will appeal the decision.

“The way the two coaches left the team, management was not happy about it thus the decision to report them to the Players Status Committee”, he told Happy 98.9FM.

“The decision from the Status Committee accepts that they terminated their contract with a just cause which means the decision that they should only pay the three months does not sit well with us. Medeama is not happy with the decision of Status Committee because they were not fair and being selective as they did not apply the rules”.

“The PSC accepts that they terminated their contract without a just cause then the issue of paying their three months’ salary doesn’t come in. We are shocked about the decision from the Disciplinary Committee on this matter and we feel they did not apply the rules”, he added.
