Residents of Pokuase and Katapor have raised alarm over the deplorable state of their roads, warning that the neglect is endangering lives and crippling livelihoods.
The 11-kilometer stretch from the Pokuase Interchange to Dedeimanto Otsirikomfo has remained unattended for years, despite repeated government promises of rehabilitation.
Community members told reporters that thick dust clouds from the road are exposing them to asthma, respiratory diseases, and long-term conditions such as lung cancer. They also accused tipper trucks transporting sand from nearby quarries of worsening the deterioration.
Commercial drivers say they are suffering huge financial losses, with constant breakdowns and soaring repair costs due to the poor road network.
The residents are demanding urgent government action to fix the road, stressing that continued neglect is taking a heavy toll on both public health and local economic activity.
