The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with Togolese police, has successfully apprehended one of the most wanted armed robbers in its list.

The suspect, Adina Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, alias Mohammed Djandjo, was arrested in Lome, Togo, following an intensive cross-border operation triggered by an INTERPOL red notice.

According to the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, between 2022 and 2024, Moudjibou terrorized some of Accra’s most affluent neighborhoods, including East Legon, Cantonments, Ridge, Tesano, Airport Residential Area, and Adjiringano, targeting high-profile individuals.

“The GPS has been pursing a known armed robber, Adina Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, whose activities have been captured in various CCTV footages and circulated widely on social media”.

Determined to bring Moudjibou to justice, the police escalated intelligence-gathering efforts, increasing security operations across vulnerable areas. On January 30, 2025, Togolese police successfully captured him at a hideout in Lome.

His subsequent extradition on May 12, 2025, marked a historic display of cooperation between Ghana and Togo under a regional security agreement signed in Accra in 2003.

At a press briefing in Accra, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), confirmed the suspect’s transfer into Ghanaian custody.

“The Ghana Police Service assured the public in October 2023 that we were actively pursuing this case. Today, we stand by that promise”.

She emphasized the strategic operation that led to Moudjibou’s arrest, detailing the efforts of a five-member delegation that flew to Togo on May 14, 2025, aboard a military aircraft to finalize his extradition.
