Armed police officers have been deployed to Sepe in the Asokore Mampong Municipality to enforce a court order evicting squatters from land owned by the Ghana Airport Company Limited.

The squatters, including truck drivers and mechanics who park their vehicles on the land, as well as individuals who have erected temporary structures like church buildings, are being displaced.

Since February this year, notices have been posted on the walls surrounding the land, instructing the squatters to vacate the premises. Despite this, many have remained, and now, in the midst of the ongoing demolition exercise, they find themselves stranded, including those with children.

The land in question is located near the Agenda 111 Hospital project site for the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

Bailiffs from the court, with support from the police, are clearing the area, and squatters are hurriedly removing their belongings.

Assembly Member for the Sepe Timpom Electoral Area, Awudu Abubakar Yakayaka, expressed concern that local opinion leaders were not consulted in the execution of the court order.
