Police launch investigation into fire at Kwashieman Cluster of Schools

The Ghana Police Service, in partnership with the Ghana National Fire Service, has begun investigating a fire that broke out early on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools.

The facility was housing the Ablekuma North Constituency ballot boxes.

In their statement, the Police assured the public that anyone responsible for the fire will be arrested and prosecuted. They called for calm as investigations into the cause of the fire continues.

This incident occured amidst ongoing tensions from post-election disturbances. The Police reported that 132 individuals have been arrested across the country in relation to these disturbances. Of these, 45 are in custody, 71 are on police enquiry bail, and 16 are out on court bail, with legal proceedings ongoing.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to upholding peace and stability and urged the public to fully cooperate as investigations move forward.
