WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

Politics, not deceit – Chief Biney tells NPP

Deputy National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Hamilton Biney has opined that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) can never continue to deceive Ghanaians to stay in power.

According to him, the unsavory tactic of deceit used by the NPP prior to the 2016 general elections and the path the party is continuing on will boot them out of power.

He made this comment on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ with host, Afrifa-Mensah saying “Ghanaians can no longer pretend to be ostriches, and are now behaving true to themselves. If you go and make promises during this elections, Ghanaians will chase you out. The President has lost the elections already”

On his authority, he said “Ghanaians have realized that politics is not about deceit. In 2016, most Ghanaians were tempted to believe the sweet things told the by the NPP. People felt that the sweet talk will reflect when Nana Addo was voted into power but it happened otherwise”.

He furthered that the flagship programs listed by the NPP in their manifesto in 2016 have mostly not seen the light of day. “Even the free education policy has been a failure with all the problems”.

Taking listeners back, he mentioned that the president was the same person who said we were sitting on wealth but were getting hungry “and now where has all the wealth gone to?” he asked.

Chief Biney furthered that the President also said employment was a problem in the country and promised to solve the issue with the One district One factory (1D1F). “The President said he has gone around the country and he has seen the food crops that could serve as raw materials for factories and promised 1D1F but where are they?”

The Politician pointed to the fact that, the ruling Government can only boast of the Ekumfi factory under the 1D1F which is an indication that the President had not fulfilled his sweet talk to Ghanaians. “The coordinator for 1D1F said the pressure from Ekumfi made them get the factory running. So do they mean the entire nation has to do that for them to get their factories?” he queried.

The Deputy Organizer of the NDC cautioned the ruling party never to do lip service, noting, “Talk does not bring factories to being”.
