Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Nana Apinkra, has revealed that Asante kotoko will not return to the Ghana Premier League until their proposals are granted by the Ghana Football Association.

Asante Kotoko on Monday, February 10, 2025, released a joint statement with Accra Hearts of Oak making certain demands including a majority share in TV broadcast rights and the immediate implementation of an autonomous league which will not be controlled by the GFA and a ban on sub-standardized facilities from hosting Premier League games.

Nana Apinkra after the release of the statement stated in a meeting with Asante Kotoko and the GFA in Kumasi that they won’t back down on their decision to boycott the league if their proposals are not granted.

“As for the GFA, we already know you take us for granted, but from now on, whether you like it or not, you will respect us. Kotoko and Hearts cannot be ignored. All we are asking for are better security measures,” Nana Apinkra stated.

He added that they won’t boycott the league indefinitely because they will return to action the very moment their demands are met.

“Even today, if you respond to our proposals, we will play. But until then, count us out because we cannot sit back and watch another life lost. We will go to every length necessary to get to the bottom of this matter.”
