The Office of the President in Accra on Monday, September 8, 2025, held the 45th Change of Guards Ceremony, marking the official transfer of guard duty from the Ghana Air Force to the Ghana Navy.
This is the third ceremony of its kind held this year, following the most recent change on July 7, 2025. The symbolic handover underscores the continuous rotation of elite security units tasked with safeguarding the Presidency.
President John Dramani Mahama, alongside senior state officials, attended the colorful ceremony, which highlighted the precision and discipline of Ghana’s security forces.
During their tenure, the outgoing Air Force guards managed security for several key state functions, including the swearing-in of Ghana’s latest envoys and seven editions of the Government Accountability Series.
The incoming naval guards will remain on duty at the Presidency until November 2025, when the next scheduled Change of Guards Ceremony will take place.
