Renowned legal practioner and member of National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Tetteh Wayoe, who is also known as ‘Ras Wayoe’ has stated that president Nana Akufo-Addo’s order for the arrest of Kwesi Nyantakyi is against the constitution.
Speaking on Anopa Bosuo Sports on Happy FM, ‘Ras Wayoe’ said “The president is under the law under article 17 of equality before the law. If the president feels that something has been done wrong he must go through the due process, how do we do that, first if a crime has been committed, you make a report to the police.”
“He cannot just wake up from his bed after drinking tea and pick up a phone and say somebody has committed an offence so go and arrest him, that’s not how it is done. So the president must go through the lay down procedure first.”
‘Ras Wayoe’s assertions come on the back of the president order for Kwesi Nyantakyi’s to be arrested for using his name to defraud investors in the yet to be premiered Anas expose video.
Nyantakyi, who is also the first vice-president at the Confederation of African Football, is accused of fraudulently using the president’s name and reports suggest that he could face a 25-year jail term should he be found guilty of the charges levelled against him.
