President John Dramani Mahama and his wife have arrived in Beijing, China, to participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and UN Women.

The two-day meeting, scheduled for October 13 and 14, 2025, will bring together world leaders to renew the spirit of the Beijing Declaration and accelerate its implementation.

The event also commemorates the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was first held in Beijing.

While in Beijing, President Mahama is expected to champion women’s empowerment and engage in discussions aimed at strengthening Ghana-China relations, particularly in trade and investment.

President Mahama will hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping and the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Li Qiang. The Ghanaian leader will also meet with Chinese business executives and host a Presidential Investment Forum, bringing together Ghanaian entrepreneurs, their Chinese counterparts, and potential investors to explore new business opportunities in Ghana.

As part of his official itinerary, President Mahama will visit Fujian Province, where he will engage with businesses operating in Ghana to discuss expansion and cooperation.

In a statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, these engagements aim to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Ghana and China and promote greater cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

President Mahama’s delegation includes the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, officials from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Free Zones Authority, and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

Also part of the delegation are the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, and Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko.

Other members include the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, and Presidential Staffer, Nana Yaa Gyantuah.
