President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Charles Adu-Boahen as Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.

Charles Adu-Boahen served in President Nana Addo’s first term as Deputy Minister of Finance.

President Nana Addo in February named Charles Adu-Boahen as his new representative at the Ministry of Finance following Mr Ken Ofori Atta’s travel outside of Ghana for medical care.

Mr Adu-Boahen was to replace his immediate past boss, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, who is was then in the United States of America (USA) for medical review following post-Covid-19 complications.

The president has also officially released a list of 39 nominees for deputy ministers.
The list has been presented to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, for vetting and approval.

The list which is replete with parliamentarians also has persons who have served in the President’s first term including former National Petroleum Authority boss, Hassan Tampuli; former Deputy Energy Minister, Dr Amin Mohammed Adam and former Deputy Information Minister, Nana Dokua Asiamah Adjei among others.

President Akufo-Addo said he “is hopeful that, just as was done for his Ministers, Parliament will, on a bi-partisan basis, expedite the approval of his Deputy Ministerial nominees, so they can join the government forthwith, and assist in the delivery of his mandate for his second term in office.”

The names are:

  1. Finance –Abena Osei Asare, Charles Adu Boahen and John Kumah
  2. Trade- Ama Dokua Asiamaah Agyei, Herbert Krapa and and Michael Okyere Baafi
  3. Energy- Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, Mohammed Amin Anta and William Owuraku Aidoo
  4. Education: Gifty Twum Ampofo and Rev John Ntim Fordjour
  5. Attorney General: Dinah Asonaba Dapaah and Alfred Tuah Yeboah
  6. Gender- Lariba Zuweira Abudu, MP Walewale
  7. Interior – Nana Eyiah, MP Gomoa Central
  8. Youth & Sports- Evans Opoku Bobie, former Ahafo regional minister
  9. Defence- Amankwah Manu
  10. Railways- Kwaku Asante Boateng
  11. Employment- Bright Wereko Brobbey
  12. Fisheries- Moses Anim
  13. Roads & Highways, Mavis Nkansah Boaduand Stephen Jalulah
  14. Communication- Ama Pomaa Boateng and Richard Ahiagah
  15. Lands & Forestry- Benito Owusu-Bio and Mireku Duker
  16. Foreign Affairs- Mbomba, MP Tatale and Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong
  17. Food and Agriculture- Yaw Frimpong Addo and Hardi Tuferu
  18. Transport – Hassan Tampuli and Adom
  19. Local Government- OB Amoah and Collins Ntim
  20. Information- Fati Abubakar
