President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the 2 weeks partial lockdown by one more week.

The extension takes effect from 1am April 13, 2020.

The President in his 6th televised address to the nation said Ghanaians should be patient because every measure he is taking is in favor of the good people of the country.

In his 4th address to the nation last month he announced a two week partial lockdown in parts of the country in a move to contain the spread of the virus.

He said the extension order is to ensure that there is no risk of importation of COVID-19 into Ghana while the country focuses on the enhanced contact tracing and testing program currently underway.

Ghana’s air, sea and land borders were also extended last week by two more weeks.

He at the time said the closure was to be in force for two weeks subject to review.

The border closure, however, does not affect apply to goods, supplies and cargo.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghan as at 0900GMT on Saturday, April 9, 2020 stand at 378.

The number includes six deaths and two recoveries.

Majority of the cases were recorded in Accra.
